The Reppell Diabetes Learning Center of Baxter Regional Medical Center invites the community to attend Eyes on Diabetes, a free diabetes education program in honor of World Diabetes Day, an event celebrated annually on November 14. Over 400 million people currently live with diabetes. Diabetes can lead to eye disease which can cause blindness if not caught early.

Eyes on Diabetes will be held on Monday, November 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the BRMC Lagerborg Dining Room. Dr. Whitney McFall, an optometrist at Ozark Eye Center, will be the keynote speaker. The event will feature cooking demonstrations, special guest speakers, diabetes vendors, healthy lunch and after school snacks, and more.

Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet screenings will be also be offered free of charge to people who have a relative with type 1 diabetes. This blood test can identify risk for type 1 diabetes up to 10 years before symptoms appear. Screening for diabetes complications is important to ensure optimal health. For more information about the test, visit www.diabetestrialnet.org.
