About Jason

Dr. Jason McConnell grew up in Magnolia, Arkansas, before attending the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville to play baseball for the Razorbacks. There he was a three-year starter as middle infielder. While playing for the Razorbacks, he tied the record for the number of triples hit during a game and the record for most hits during a single game. After leading the Cape Cod Summer Collegiate league in hitting following his junior year, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins. At that time, he elected to leave school and pursue his lifelong dream of playing professional baseball.

After playing in the Minnesota Twins' farm system for 3 years, he returned to the U of A and completed his Microbiology degree in 2001. From there, he moved to Little Rock to attend medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) where he was honored to be selected as a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society.

Following the completion of medical school in 2005 (with honors), Dr. McConnell went on to complete a rigorous, 5-year orthopedic residency program, also at UAMS. During his junior year of residency, he received the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma's Best Orthopaedic Teaching Resident award for UAMS. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Jason McConnell joined Knox Orthopaedics in June of 2014. Knox Orthopaedics became Twin Lakes Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2024. He and his wife Laney have two young daughters, Merritt and Mary Charles, and support a variety of charitable and civic activities.

Dr. McConnell enjoys all aspects of his orthopaedic practice, including shoulder arthroscopy, trauma, hand surgery and hip and knee replacement surgery. He feels his extensive sports background helps him relate to patients who are trying to return to an active lifestyle.
