Baxter Health Welcomes Jamie Lee Aldakkour, DO Through Partnership with Highlands Oncology

Baxter Health is pleased to announce that Jamie Lee Aldakkour, DO, has joined its medical staff as a fellowship-trained medical oncologist and hematologist. Aldakkour began practicing at Highlands Oncology on the Baxter Health campus in mid-August. She sees patients in the clinic and cares for oncology patients admitted to the hospital.

Highlands Oncology at Baxter Health serves as the region’s premier cancer center, providing comprehensive oncology services through state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, an in-house clinic pharmacy, a CLIA-certified laboratory, genetic counseling, an outpatient infusion center, and clinical trials. The partnership between Baxter Health and Highlands Oncology ensures that patients across a 14-county service area can receive world-class cancer care close to home, without leaving their support systems behind.

Aldakkour has recently completed a hematology and oncology fellowship at LSU Health Shreveport and holds board certification in both hematology and internal medicine. Hematology and oncology is the specialty focused on cancers and diseases of the blood, including conditions such as leukemia, lymphoma, anemia, and clotting disorders, as well as solid tumor cancers. Aldakkour’s training has prepared her to manage a wide range of these conditions, from diagnosis through treatment and ongoing care.

Her clinical background is complemented by a strong research record. She has contributed to published work in the Journal of Clinical Oncology on topics including cancer care quality improvement and kidney cancer treatment outcomes, and she has been an active participant in medical research throughout her training. That commitment to evidence-based, current practice is one of the qualities that distinguishes her as a clinician.
Aldakkour earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth and completed her internal medicine residency at HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, where she served as chief resident. She completed her undergraduate studies in chemistry and Spanish at the University of Houston, graduating magna cum laude.
