Step 1 - Journey
Baxter Health’s goal is to hire nurse graduates who are seeking to
build a strong nursing foundation. We want nurses who are motivated by
passion to provide nursing care, who have an interest in career growth
and an open mind to learn.

your work-style. We strive to help you find a unit where you will enjoy

Step 2 - Preceptorship
RN Resident Alumni value the married-state preceptorship. In fact, they
have indicated that their relationship with their preceptors
continue beyond orientation. Many residents still consider their preceptor
a life-long resource and friend.
To ensure residents have a smooth transition from knowledge to nursing
practice, our preceptors are committed to developing their
residents into competent and confident professional nurses.
Baxter Regional RN Preceptors participate in a formal Preceptor Role Development
Program that provides training and validation in the following competencies:
• Orienting Residents to the Healthcare Environment
• Creating a Safe Learning Environment for the Resident
• Impacting a Resident's Clinical Development through Individual Support
• Guiding a Resident through Unit-Specific Competency-Based Clinical
Development
Step 3 - Resident Support
During a resident's first year at Baxter Health, they will enjoy support
from their Nurse Leader, Preceptors, Peers, Teammates, plus the Baxter
Health RN Residency structured Professional Growth and Debriefing Program.
Building a Servant's Heart through the Development of Resiliency (Debriefing
Conversations)
Residents participate in Debriefing Sessions involving conversations and
reflections with fellow residents and trained debriefing facilitators.
Topics are resident-driven and may include:
• Reflections of Proud and Tender Moments
• Impactful Clinical Experiences
• Building Emotional Intelligence
Growing Your Nursing Career through Personal and Professional Growth
Residents explore career development opportunities. Topics may include:
• Exploring Career Options in Administration, Clinical Expertise,
Education and Research
• Creating Career Pathways by Exploring and Expanding Clinical Interests
• Self Assessments (Career Interest, Locus of Control, Leadership
Potential)
