Baxter Health Installs Safe Haven Baby Box at Hospital East Entrance

Baxter Health recently announced that a Safe Haven Baby Box was installed at the East Entrance of their hospital building.

Baxter Health partnered with Knights of Columbus and the 2022 Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class to bring the Safe Haven Baby Box to the community. The partnership aims to provide a safe and secure environment for mothers to legally leave their babies if they are not able to take care of them.

The Safe Haven Baby Box Dedication held today on the Baxter Health campus was opened with a prayer by Rev. Randy Ludwig, DMin, BCC, Director of Pastoral Care at Baxter Health. The ceremony also included a keynote address from Anthony Reed, VP of Ancillary Services at Baxter Health.

In a statement to the press, Reed said, “We are excited to partner with the 2022 Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class and Knights of Columbus to bring the Safe Haven Baby Box to our community. This is just one more way that Baxter Health is living up to our purpose of being a community-focused organization.”

The Safe Haven Baby Box provides a discreet and anonymous way for mothers to leave their babies safely. The box is equipped with an alarm system that immediately notifies the hospital staff when a baby is left in the box. The hospital staff then rushes to the box to retrieve and care for the baby.

Speakers at the Safe Haven Baby Box Dedication include Dani Pugsley, President and CEO of the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce, and Sarah Edwards, Executive Director of the Baxter Health Foundation. Both Pugsley and Edwards shared their thoughts on the importance of the Safe Haven Baby Box and the partnership between the organizations that made it possible.

The installation of the Safe Haven Baby Box at Baxter Health is a testament to the hospital and their partners’ dedication to serving the community. It also shows the prioritization of the welfare of the mothers and the babies in their care.
