The Mruk Family Education Center on Aging and the Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education of Baxter Regional Medical Center are hosting a free Senior Safety Symposium on Monday, October 21 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the BRMC Lagerborg Dining Room. Featured speakers include John Montgomery and Paul Mruk.

10 – 11 a.m. | John Montgomery: Detecting & Preventing Senior Scams
11 – 11:30 a.m. | Lunch provided
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Paul Mruk: Senior Self Defense

About the featured speakers
Before being elected Baxter County Sheriff in 2005, John Montgomery served the Mountain Home Police Department, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant after 15 years. He holds numerous law enforcement teaching and training certifications and is passionate about the safety of all Baxter County citizens.

A retired Memphis Police Captain, Paul Mruk served in the Marine Corps and Air National Guard. He is an active volunteer at Baxter Regional Medical Center and Rock Steady Boxing Mountain Home and was a 2010 inductee into the Arkansas Senior Hall of Fame.
