Skin Cancer: When to be Concerned

About This Event

  • Event Type:Peitz Cancer Support House
Details:

With the warm weather upon us, people are ready to enjoy the great outdoors and the sunshine. Are you taking the appropriate precautions to protect the largest organ of our body – your skin? You may have spots on your skin that could just be normal aging, or they may need to be removed.

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers, and each year in the United States, over 5.4 million cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are treated in more than 3.3 million people. It is also the easiest to cure if diagnosed and treated early, but when allowed to progress, skin cancer can result in disfigurement and even death.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month and a great time to raise awareness about skin cancer for you and your loved ones. On Tuesday, May 1 at noon, the Peitz Cancer Support House will welcome Dr. Mark Hammonds of King Dermatology to discuss normal skin changes and those to be concerned about.

Enroll online, or call the Peitz Cancer Support House at (870) 508-CARE (2273) to register to attend.
