da Vinci Demonstrations

About This Event
- Event Type:Baxter Regional Community Event
Baxter Regional Medical Center invites the community to experience the
da Vinci surgical system. On Tuesday, January 21 from noon to 2:00 p.m.,
attendees will have the opportunity to see what it is like to be a surgeon.
A hands-on demonstration will allow you to experience
da Vinci, a tool for performing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. Demonstrations
will be conducted in the Baxter Regional Main Lobby next to Brewed Awakenings.
The da Vinci surgical system gives surgeons an advanced set of instruments
to use in performing robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery. The
term “robotic” often misleads people. Robots don’t perform
surgery. A trained, experienced surgeon performs surgery with da Vinci
by using instruments that he or she guides via a console.
The da Vinci system translates the surgeon’s hand movements at the console in real time, bending and rotating the instruments while performing the procedure. The tiny wristed instruments move like a human hand, but with a greater range of motion. The da Vinci vision system also delivers highly magnified, 3D high-definition views of the surgical area.
Please join us for this one-of-a-kind experience. For more information about the community demo, please call (870) 508-1018.
